Clifford Brown

Today I'm submitting next year's budget for the library. It's a depressing situation, as these times have hit our institution just as hard as most places.

However, I'm also listening to Clifford Brown play "Stardust". Oh my goodness -- his horn is so beautiful that it's hard to keep my mind on being depressed. We can only wish he had lived longer and left us a larger body of work. But I know that whenever I need cheering up I can listen to "Joy Spring", one of my all-time favorite recordings and just a fun song!

Thanks, God, for giving us Clifford for a while at least.

Introduction

Welcome to Book Jazz, the blog of librarian, jazz drummer and writer Phil Hendrickson. Can you guess what we'll be talking about? Books and jazz, oh, and probably some other fun stuff, too.

Come on along -- see if you can keep up with the beat!
